Device What is Reveal?

Reveal is an industrial sensing demonstrator designed for the detection and localization of high-pressure compressed air leaks in factory environments.

Compressed air leaks are a major source of hidden energy losses in industrial settings. These leaks are often inaudible in noisy production environments and difficult to localize using conventional inspection methods.

Reveal addresses this challenge by converting ultrasonic leak signatures into precise visual indications overlaid on a live camera feed, allowing maintenance personnel to quickly identify leak locations.

To achieve this technically, the system combines an ultrasound sensing front-end with an optical camera subsystem. The captured signals from both modalities are then processed in real-time and fused into a visual representation of the ultrasound soundscape overlaid on the captured images.

Why it matters

Compressed air systems are widely used in manufacturing and represent one of the highest operational energy costs.

Undetected leaks can result in significant energy waste, reduced compressor lifetime and decreased system efficiency. These consequences can lead to unplanned downtime and increased operational expenditure.

By revealing compressed air leaks, Reveal enables proactive maintenance by providing intuitive leak visualization.
